Tonight’s Dinner: Smoked Salmon Sandwich

In budget meals, home cooking on February 25, 2010 at 10:46 pm

It’s truly shameful that this is my first food post but in the spirit of getting things going, it has to be done.

My Salmon Sandwich

I’m not always very picky when it comes to food, especially when I’m just trying to fill my belly with something between getting home from work and going to bed. Anything to not be hungry, really. Sometimes it’s tasty and other times it’s quite unappealing. Today’s dinner was both tasty and unappealing… to the eye, at least.

Yes, that’s right, tonight’s dinner was a salmon sandwich. It doesn’t look that appealing, but if you like salmon bits… and bread… then you would like it too. Fortunately I like both of those things so it’s a common meal for me.

Let’s get to the specifics…

This is no ordinary salmon. It’s farm-raised, smoked salmon from the icy waters of the Atlantic ocean, off the Chilean coast – dry cured, cold smoked and cut into manageable pieces. Mmmm… delicious. This particular 4oz package was procured from Trader Joe’s for about $3.

Mmm.. salmony, smoky, no preservatives, no artificial flavors… and it’s Kosher! OHM NOM NOM!!!

With a kitty in the house, it’s impossible to eat a salmon sandwich without attracting some feline attention. I managed to keep her greedy little paws off my dinner and snapped a picture of her scheming little face in the process.

Salmon Fiend

Of course no salmon sandwich dinner is complete without a little bit o’ the ol’ brew, eh? Tonight I had a special treat: the new spring seasonal from Magic Hat Brewery, the Vinyl Lager.

And that’s the end! Hope you enjoyed my budget meal!
